Touted as a console killer, OnLive, the cloud computing based video gaming platform is a hot topic this month.
Founded by technology entrepreneur Steve Perlman (the man behind WebTV and QuickTime), this new video gaming platform includes a microconsole and wireless controller.
The California-based startup behind the console, claims that it is ‘the future of video games’ and that expensive consoles may be a thing of the past.
“OnLive is the most powerful game system in the world. No high-end hardware, no upgrades, no endless downloads, no discs, no recalls, no obsolescence,” said Steve Perlman, founder and CEO of OnLive.
Here's a list of publishers that have already pledged support and are developing for the platform:
1. EA 2. Ubisoft 3. Take Two 4. Warner Bros. 5. THQ 6. Eidos 7. Atari 8. CodeMasters 9. EPIC 10. 2D Boy
Monthly subscriptions to OnLive are expected to be made available to the public this winter. In the meanwhile, check out these videos from GDC.
